I'm happy to report that Jill's surgery last Thursday at St. Francis went very well. The surgery took about 4.5 hours beginning at 7 a.m. Uncle Jr., Aunt Sandy, and Mema made the trip from Stroud to sit with us during part of the surgery and to visit her afterward. Mema was so sweet, rubbing Jill's forehead. She was in the hospital overnight and came home to her place Friday afternoon.
Dr. Sterling did a Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH) which means he made a couple incisions in the abdomen, disconnected the ovaries, and took out the ovaries and uterus vaginally. Next, Dr. Arch Miller removed the expanders that have been in place since the November surgery and replaced them with implants. She also had a pain pump inserted in the implant area that will be removed tomorrow during an office visit. We all think Dr. Miller is great... Her new implants look VERY good and natural. Jill's mentioned more than once that she'd recommend anyone needing implants or a lift to go ahead and do it!
The recovery for this surgery has been significantly smoother than the last. She has not had much pain except for tenderness in the operated areas. Generally, the recuperation has consisted of lots of rest, changing dressings near the pain pump site, and consistent eating (as to not get faint). Jill is in very good spirits despite the circumstances. Mom, Dad, and I have stayed with her and have been enjoying the company for sure. The ole boob tube (no pun intended) has been our constant companion as we watched Forrest Gump (AGAIN), Next Top Model reruns, and a bunch of home improvement shows. Also, today Jill got a Nintendo Wii. That thing is pretty hard to find - had to call all around Tulsa to find one, and the place we found it only had 3, which would not be around long. Jill, Peyton, and all of us had a ball bowling and playing tennis and golf! Although she's limited in mobility, Jill was able to keep up pretty well. A pretty good activity to do indoors while recovering, I must say.
The cards, flowers, and phone calls have been so nice. You might think it is a small gesture, but the gifts and calls/emails have brightened her mood a lot. Special thanks goes out to you who have included me too. You know who you are and love ya for it. ;o)
Peyton had her Pre-K graduation recently. She received a reading award that only 10% of the students in all of the Pre-K classes received. Mom and Jill both were teary-eyed. SO proud!! Lainey is walking everywhere now. She looks like Frankenstein with her hands way up in the air with each step!
DAD AND MOM UPDATE
Mom and Dad are looking to move closer to Tulsa/Sand Springs soon. They've been feverishly getting their house and land ready. We've always enjoyed spending time there in the lush green oasis they've created. It is really a treasure if you haven't seen it. Sitting on the patio overlooking the pond and beautiful landscape makes you feel like you're at a resort. BUT, that resort feel takes a lot of work, and they're ready to kick back and be close to us and the grandkids. They are actively looking for the right place and will put their place on the market soon.
AMBER UPDATE
I've just been having fun decorating the new house. Been planting flowers, bought a new weedeater, ping pong table, etc. Have had friends over several times to hang on the big back porch and play poker and pong. Having a good time...

Congratulations to cousins Hayley and Cherie on their weddings!!! Hayley was wedded to Brian Howell on April 15th in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The pics of the couple were very nice - Hayley looked especially pretty. Cherie's wedding was much more recent - just yesterday. She married Brian Lindsey in Woodward Park here in Tulsa. Can't wait to see the pics!
